Bay Area Institution Bolsters Partnership with vCom
Cypress Lawn Builds on Decade-and-Half Partnership for Enhanced Cloud & Network Management
With a history spanning the end of the 19th century, the entirety of the 20th century, and the first quarter of the 21st century, Cypress Lawn has been a cornerstone for families in the San Francisco Bay Area. Building on that legacy, and with the goal of ensuring that its staff is aptly equipped to deliver for clients, Cypress Lawn has partnered with vCom for the past decade and a half for the ongoing lifecycle management of its IT environment. This partnership proved critical when Cypress Lawn recently sought to enhance its IT infrastructure in Network and Cloud.
First, Cypress Lawn collaborated with vCom for the design, sourcing, deployment, and ongoing support of a new SASE infrastructure with enhanced network resilience, security, and performance. By leveraging QuantumShift, vCom's Buyers' Club, Cypress Lawn took advantage of aggregated buying power, vendor and invoice consolidation, normalization of nomenclature, and deep integration into vCom's award-winning spend management platform, vManager.
After evaluating multiple manufacturers and solutions, Cypress Lawn selected VeloCloud SASE, which was deployed by vCom's team at 11 locations with high availability (HA). Internet access from six vendors with multi-modality backup connectivity was implemented at multiple sites. VeloCloud Virtual Edges were deployed in the Cypress Lawn Microsoft Azure environment, enabling connectivity to cloud services as well as integration with critical SaaS providers. All circuits and hardware were integrated and fully managed by vCom's Managed Network Services.
Second, Cypress Lawn partnered with vCom Cloud subject matter experts to analyze its Microsoft Azure environment for design and financial optimization. vCom's Cloud Lifecycle Management team performed an audit of the Azure environment and identified multiple opportunities to enhance performance and availability, deploy best practices, and pinpoint significant cost savings. Streamlining the cloud architectural design resulted in eliminating a costly gateway for a monthly cost saving of 90%, while a review of Microsoft SQL databases enhanced database performance and reduced overall spend by 65%. By deploying vCom's recommendations, Cypress Lawn would achieve over $250K in annual savings.
"Since we are headquartered in the SF Bay Area, we are thrilled to partner with an iconic Bay Area institution like Cypress Lawn," said Jim Barroso, vCom's Vice President of Engineering & IT Enablement. "We appreciate the trust that has been instilled in vCom over the past decade and a half and look forward to build on this partnership."
vCom is working closely with Cypress Lawn on additional projects to enhance cloud web security, improve traffic flow, and provide ongoing management of Cypress Lawn's Cloud infrastructure.
"We greatly appreciate having consolidated sourcing, ongoing management, and streamlined billing for multiple IT services and from several providers, through one partner and in one platform," said Teresa Habeck, Cypress Lawn's Head of IT. "We have valued the access to vCom's Network and Cloud subject matter experts who help us be better stewards of the organization's resources."
